I have been teaching for over twenty years and during this time have experienced the joys of working with children in Prep to Year 7 and held various leadership positions within several primary schools. In 1993, I became the first Catholic teacher in the ACT to trial the use of the internet with students. I received a National Excellence in teaching award in 1999.
In 2002, I was seconded into the Canberra Goulburn Catholic Education Office and undertook various responsibilities including Web Manager, AGQTP Officer, Learning Technologies Officer and Senior Education Officer Web Services. In all roles undertaken, I provided assistance to both ACT and NSW schools to embrace contemporary learning practices using the tools available within mysuite and Moodle. I developed secondary courses for several NSW School Certificate elective courses that involved virtual classes of students from three different NSW country schools isolated by distance. In 2005, I completed my Masters of Education for 21st Century Learning at ACU and was appointed as a CENet representative to a national Catholic working party to work with Editure to enhance the ‘myclasses’ application.
In 2007, I returned to the classroom to ensure that I remained in touch with the increased pressures and demands of classroom teaching. During this time I was invited to become a member of the Australian Catholic Education Network Contemporary Learning Working Party. In 2008 I was appointed Education Officer: Digital Learning for the Diocese of Cairns. I continue to be a representative on the Contemporary Learning Working Party.
